Jamie Melvin – Founder & Head Guide

Born and raised in Kenya, Jamie Melvin is the founder and lead guide at Uniquely Fly. A lifelong angler, Jamie has dedicated his life to chasing fish on the fly — from the Indian Ocean and African rivers to the far reaches of the Galápagos and the trout streams of the UK.

Jamie’s passion for fly fishing is as infectious as the laughter and energy he brings to every trip. There are few countries where he hasn’t cast a fly, and few species he hasn’t either caught — or fought memorably. While he’s at home in all water, his true obsession is saltwater fly fishing, especially for billfish, GTs, tarpon, and triggerfish.

His career in fly fishing is as deep as it is global. Jamie has:

• Run fly fishing safaris across Africa
• Managed the prestigious Bair’s Lodge in the Bahamas
• Spent three seasons guiding with Alphonse Fishing Company in the Seychelles
• Been published in leading fly fishing magazines
• Guided in the Galápagos, Kenya, Ethiopia, and the UK, targeting everything from marlin and tarpon to brown trout

At Uniquely Fly, Jamie now designs and leads tailor-made, privately guided fly fishing experiences to our destinations— but only during peak seasons, when fishing is at its best.

He handles the bookings, logistics, and guiding, working closely with the finest local operators, lodges, and captains in each location.

What sets Jamie apart is not just his expertise, but his commitment to teaching and improving his clients. Every trip includes pre-trip coaching, and on the water, he records every fish on a GoPro so anglers can review and refine their technique. His goal is for you to leave a better angler than when you arrived — all while having the time of your life.
