Sea lions sunbathe on park benches, penguins and rays swim in the marinas and hunt alongside blue-footed boobies, the Galapagos is a place like no other. While the wildlife and sealife on and around the volcanic islands is incredible, offshore lies one of the most exciting and untouched billfish fisheries on Earth.
The numbers of striped marlin is out of this world, raising 20+ fish a day is common, and their size - 200lbs is the average. Now, throw in the odd small blue marlin and you have some of the best billfish on fly action in the world.
For an added bonus, big blue marlin from the 500 to 1000+ lbs also swim in these waters, and adding a few days to catch these fish on conventional heavy tackle is highly recommended.
