Meet the Team & Partners
Jamie Melvin
FOUNDER
Born and raised in Kenya, Jamie has spent his life chasing fish on fly around the world.
His experience includes world-class destinations like Seychelles, Bahamas, French Polynesia, Belize, Galapagos, Kenya, Tazania, and more. But what sets Jamie apart isn’t his fishing record, it’s his passion for teaching, coaching, and helping others become better anglers.
“Over my years working as a fly guide and lodge manager in the Seychelles and The Bahamas, I saw something missing in the fly fishing travel world. Lodges tend to push through 12 clients a week, and guests can get lost it that, not really getting the attention they need to become better anglers. This is what lead me to create Uniquely Fly.
Our goal is to deliver trips for small groups, highly personalised to your fly fishing development. We go deep into the ecosystem we are fishing in with you to develop understanding, provide pre-trip coaching, and review our time on the water every evening to refelect on what to do better and what was done well. ” — Jamie Melvin
Pierre Joubert
STRATEGIC PARTNER
Having met while guiding together at Alphonse Island in Seychelles, Pierre and Jamie both left to create their own fly fishing operations, Stream & Sea (Pierre) and Uniquely Fly (Jamie).
Based in Cape Town, Stream & Sea is a passionate fly-fishing hub and a premium fly-fishing tackle shop built around community and education.
Pierre’s primary mission is connecting people with the sport by guiding newcomers on local Cape streams, running immersive small-stream clinics, and hosting collaborative community events like "Fly Jam".
Whether he is guiding anglers through intricate tandem nymph setups, teaching advanced tiers, or stalking wild trout, Pierre’s mission remains the same: helping fly fishermen cast with confidence and connect deeply with the waters they love.
