Kenya Fly Fishing Adventures
Blue, Black, Striped Marlin, Sailfish & Wahoo on Fly
We run all our Kenya Billfish on Fly trips out of Lamu, a sand dune island on the shores of the Indian Ocean. Lamu is full of history, culture, and home to some amazing fishing.
It is one of our favourite destinations and perhaps the best one when it comes to bring your family along with you, as there is something for everyone in Lamu.
About Fly Fishing in Lamu, Kenya
Lamu is a place like no other. A UNESCO World Heritage island rich in Swahili history, with no cars - boats & donkeys are the forms of transport. It is like stepping back in time with its wild white sand beaches and authentic East African charm. And the fishing? It’s just as wild and wonderful.
Uniquely Fly offers a truly one-of-a-kind, privately guided experience that blends serious fly fishing with immersive local culture.
There are two sides to Lamu's billfish on fly fishery. Oct/Nov is the time for sailfish, with up to 20 fish a day on the teasers. Feb/March is super slam season - blue, black and striped marlin and sailfish on fly are all possible in a single day, along with wahoo on fly.
Sitting amongst a huge magrove system, we are exploring the inshore side of Lamu every opportunity we get. We have caught oxeye tarpon, GTs, and more. Adding a few days of this provides a perfect balance with the billfish on fly.
